Review of Spitz Cracked Pepper Flavored Sunflower Seeds
Flavor: 4/5
The flavor of this seed really surprised me. The last Spitz seed I reviewed did not do well in the flavor department, but this one is really a turnaround. The flavoring is not exactly fresh black pepper, but if you blindfolded me and put one of these seeds in my mouth, I would know what it is supposed to be. There are notes of garlic and dried onion, with very mild hints of sour. The kernel has the typical Spitz notes of peanut.
Salt: 3/5
The salt of this seed is really masked by all of the other flavors, so there is not much to comment on. There is about 21mg of sodium per gram of seeds, which is a decent amount.
Seed Quality: 2/5
The average length of a seed in this bag is .5 inches or 12.7mm, which is a very small seed in my opinion. The seeds are very round as well. The shell does not seem to splinter easily, but there are a few broken shells in the bag.
Price: 4/5
The price of this bag was $1.00 for 6oz (170.1g). That price comes out to $0.16 per oz, or $0.59 per 100g.
