Review of Spitz Dill Pickle Flavored Sunflower Seeds
Flavor: 2/5
First off, this seed does not taste like a pickle. The flavoring on the outside of the shell is poorly developed, and tastes almost solely of monosodium glutamate (MSG). MSG is fine, I actually enjoy the flavor that MSG adds to dishes, however it in no way tastes like a pickle. No notes of vinegar, no notes of cucumber. However, the kernel itself is not bad. The kernel has strong notes of peanut, although you have to get rid of all "pickle" flavoring before you can taste it.
Salt: 2/5
This seed has 17mg of sodium per 1g of seed, but it is really outshined by the flavor of the MSG. A salt flavor would be very welcome on this seed, to give it a bit of texture flavor wise.
Seed Quality: 2/5
The average length of a seed in this bag is 0.5 in or 12.7 mm. Which, compared to other brands of seeds, is very small. There are quite a few cracked seeds in the bag, but I could not find a stem. Luckily, the shell does not splinter easily. Much room for improvement in this category.
Price: 4/5
The price of this bag was $1.00 for 6oz (170.1g). That price comes out to $0.16 per oz, or $0.59 per 100g.
