Review of Trader Joe's Nuts Roasted & Salted Sunflower Seeds

 Flavor: 5/5

The flavor of this seed is very apparent from the first taste. Very prominent notes of butter, and not a whole lot else. If you like butter, you will love this seed. The flavor is always consistent as well. From bag to bag, from seed to seed, you will taste butter. There is an occasional seed that has notes of black pepper. You wouldn't think that these two flavors would go well together, but they compliment each other nicely.

Salt: 4/5

The salt of this content is very subtle on the tongue. Some of the seeds taste almost unsalted, and some have a minimal flavor of salt. Personally I enjoy a seed with a lighter salt taste. Although the salt flavor is very low, there is 35mg of sodium per 1g of seeds, a very high amount. There does seem to be quite a bit of salt that has fallen of of the seeds and has settled at the bottom though.

Seed Quality: 4/5

Quality of the seeds is rather good. The seeds themselves have nice thick hulls, the hulls do not splinter easily. The kernel itself is plump, and has a nice bite to it. The only thing to detract from the overall quality is the fact that there were a few broken seeds and stems inside the bag. The average length of a seed was .75 in or 19 mm.

Price: 5/5

The price of this bag was $0.99 for 8oz (227g). Price per ounce is $0.12 and price per 100g is $0.43.
